The Change and Reform parliamentary bloc led by MP Michel Aoun on Tuesday stressed that “national partnership” is the solution to Lebanon's compounded problems, urging a mass turnout at the Free Patriotic Movement's annual October 13 rally which has been pushed to October 16 this year.

“We will not back down from our rights, democratic Lebanon and national partnership,” bloc secretary MP Ibrahim Kanaan announced after the weekly meeting in Rabieh.

Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil stressed on Thursday that Lebanon's state budget for the year 2017 will be ready before the constitutional due date, al-Joumhouria daily reported.

“I am in the process of reaching the final stages in preparing the state's financial plan. It will be presented to the cabinet as soon as a session is set to discuss it,” said Khalil in an interview to the daily.

Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan stressed Wednesday that only state institutions can protect the Lebanese against terrorism, not the formation of vigilante groups, as he criticized “some MPs” who are boycotting the presidential vote sessions.

The parliamentary elections are scheduled for June 2017, amid disbelief that the long-awaited polls will be staged on time.

The national dialogue session will convene in Ain el-Tineh on Tuesday where the participating political factions are set to give a final position on a suggestion put forward by Speaker Nabih Berri in May regarding the electoral laws, al-Akhbar daily reported.

"Falanges Libanesas ha decidido dimitir del Gobierno", ha anunciado el parlamentario Sami Gemayel, hijo del líder de la formación, Amin Gemayel. Los ministros afectados son Seyaan Qazi y Alain Hakim, que encabezan las carteras de Trabajo y Economía, respectivamente.
