Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim al-Jubouri and Interior Minister Qassim Araji discussed the security file and preparations for securing the elections on time. 

A statement by Al- Jubouri office said that during the meeting they discussed the developments of the security file, the preparations of the Ministry to secure elections in the country, and its efforts to achieve security and stability in all governorates.

The accountability and justice confirmed body that the decision to call for more than 600 candidates does not mean including them in its legal procedures and exclude them from running in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The Leader of the Sadrist Movement, Moqtada al-Sadr, called for UN intervention to supervise the upcoming elections.

"The legislative elections are on the door," Al-Sadr said in a tweet on his official Twitter website, "We are increasingly concerned about fraud, so we call for independent international supervision to keep the elections transparent and fair and not corrupt."

Vice President Nuri al-Maliki called for a broad participation in the elections and actively contribute to granting the visionaries capable of making the achievements to work and to create a promising future for all Iraqis.

"Iraqi tribes are a source of strength for society," Maliki said during a meeting with elders and tribal elders in Al-Muthanna province, according to a statement by his media office. Added "Iraq is distinguished by multiple tribes because they represent the spectrum of the Iraqi people, Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen and various religions."

The leader of the Sadrist Movement, Moqtada al-Sadr stressed that the removal of corrupt in the upcoming elections is necessary and a national duty.
Al-Sadr said in a statement in response on the question of a citizen on the difficult circumstances that Iraq has experienced and what would he recommend the members of the Sadrist Movement in the upcoming elections, "the removal of the corrupt by giving the voice of competence is necessary and a national duty."

A member of the House of Representatives for the province of Anbar, Adel Khamis al-Mahallawi said "several important laws are ready to vote on and waiting for consensus and quorum legal."
"The parliament is about to complete its legislative term and the people are waiting to pass several important laws to be a positive sign of the current council in the democratic and legislative process in the country," he told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA).

Iraqi President Fuad Masum has rejected the country’s controversial 2018 budget bill, and ordered it back to the parliament, according to a source quoted saying  on Tuesday.

Alsumaria News quoted an “informed source” saying that the president declined to approve the bill and decided to return it to the parliament for review.

Kurdistan politicians are considering a total withdrawal from the Iraqi political arena after the Iraqi parliament approved the 2018 with a reduced share for the autonomous region.

Sputnik quoted Shakhwan Abdullah, a parliament member of the Kurdish Alliance, saying that following the passing of the budget, several options were discussed, including a withdrawal from the political process.

Kurdish factions to continue to meet with Iraqi President on Saturday

Muthana Amin, the head of the KIU faction in parliament, told Rudaw that the Kurdish blocs’ meetings with President Masum will continue and "we will be in touch with the Kurdistan government and relevant parties."

He added they will have another meeting on Saturday to decide whether or not attend the parliament to pass the budget bill.

Erbil and Baghdad coming to an agreement should resolve the budget dispute, according to Amin.
