HoR session to approve GNA postponed due to lack of quorum

The House of Representatives (HoR) was forced to postpone its session today due to the lack of a quorum.

Today’s session was called by the majority group in the hope of voting in support of the UN-brokered Libyan Political Agreement (LPA) signed in the Moroccan city of Skhirat on 17th December. The LPA is to lead to the formation of a Government of National Accord (GNA) to be led by Prime Minister-designate Faiez Al-Serraj.

Misrata elders meet with Guba counterparts in support of “Libya-Libya” Dialogue

Members of the Misrata’s Council of Elders were in east Libyan town of Guba yesterday to build bridges with their counterparts from the region in support of the “Libya-Libya” Dialogue being pursued by the presidents of the both the General National Congress (GNC) and the House of Representatives (HoR).

In the harshest attack to date on General National Congress (GNC) president Nuri Abu Sahmain, maverick Misratan politician Abdurrahman Sewehli has accused him of damaging the UN-led Libya Dialogue process because of “narrow personal interests”. He accused him too of hypocrisy and of “blindly and madly” believing he was the guardian of the revolution.

Just a month after he took over as UNSMIL chief from Bernardino Leon, Martin Kobler watched while the deal, much of which has been hammered out over the past year by members of the Libyan Dialogue, was finally signed.

The agreement brings into being a nine-man presidential council headed by prime minister Faiez Serraj which will form a cabinet to run a Government of National Accord.

Skhirat unity government signing to take place tomorrow, not today

The signing of the UN-brokered Libya Dialogue agreement known as the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA) will take place in the Moroccan resort of Skhirat tomorrow rather than today, Wednesday, as planned, Moroccan officials have confirmed.

The delay is said to be caused by the logistical problems of getting as many key players as possible from Libya to Skhirat in time.
