Hedayat Amin Arsala, former presidential candidate, endorsed presidential candidate Ashraf Ghani-Ahmadzai in Kabul on Monday saying that i joined Ghani because of the similarity on our thoughts and programs.
Arsala said that as a team they "will work together to bring peace to Afghanistan." He asked his supporters to vote for Dr. Ghani-Ahmadzai this coming Saturday.
“Today I announced my support to Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, because he has the capability to manage the national affairs of the country in the future and restore peace,” Arsala said.
Arsala did not say whether he would serve in Dr. Ghani-Ahmadzai's government or not, but did underline that he will support Dr. Ghani-Ahmadzai's platforms.
In the first round of elections, Arsala came in last with 15,506 votes making up 0.2 percent of the total votes nationwide.
At another campaign rally on Monday, Member of Parliament Mullah Tarakhel also announced his support for Dr. Ghani-Ahmadzai in the runoff elections.
“Today we came to support Dr. Ghani-Ahmadzai and our decision was a wise step toward stability of our country,” Tarakhel said.
In the first round of elections Mullah Tarakhel had endorsed former presidential candidate Zalmai Rassoul.
With only six days left for the second round of elections on June 14 most of the first round candidates, political figures, Afghan MPs and political parties have endorsed a candidate.
