The Ministry of Defense (MoD) Spokesperson Gen. Zahir Azimi said that the Afghan National Army (ANA) are ready and equipped to defy any threats on the nation on Election Day at news conference in Kabul on Monday.

Gen. Zahir said that ANA soldiers understand the shortcomings of the first round, adding that they have been trained and prepared to be more alert for the runoff election.

June 14 runoff will hold in peaceful and safe situation, Azimi said.

“The enemy knows that they will not be able to do anything on the day of election, so they try to sabotage the process before Election Day,” Azimi exclaims.

The Ministry Chief of Operations, Afzal Aman said the enemy of Afghanistan is weak to fight with the ANA face to face.

“The only anxiety of runoff was that the enemy will take revenge in aim to disrupt the election process, but we defeated them in the first round, therefore in this round we do not have that same anxiety because we are better prepared,” Aman said.

As Election Day nears, the people of the nation have praised the activities of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) particularly the Afghan army for providing excellent security in the first round.

“We are really happy of our forces for their good work, and hope they can secure the runoff process as well,” Kabul resident, Hamidullah said.
