On the last day of runoff campaigns, main team members of losing presidential candidate Qutbuddin Helal endorsed frontrunner candidate Abdullah Abdullah on Wednesday.
When Second Vice President of Qutbuddin Helal, Mohammad Ali Nabizada, announced his and the teams support for Dr. Abdullah, Helal later in the day announced his support for Ashraf Ghani-Ahmadzai.
“We, the ‘change and transformation team’ announce our support for Abdullah Abdullah,” Nabizada said. "About 99 percent of us agree with this decision."
In response to the support of Helal’s team, Dr. Abdullah stated that upon victory, he would work for the improvement of Afghanistan along with the teams that endorsed him. Furthermore, he asked the people to join the election process in an aware and cautious manner.
“We do not want to ask particular groups to vote for us; we just call on all the Afghans to vote cautiously,” Dr. Abdullah said. "We are committed to work on Afghanistan's enhancement after our victory."
Meanwhile, a number of Afghan athletes, sports organizations, the Pharmacist Association of Kabul and a number of Ghorband district of Parwan province also announced their support for Dr. Abdullah on Wednesday.
