The Independent Election Commission (IEC) said that essential election materials have been delivered to more than 300 districts across the country and by the end of Friday all materials will be delivered to all districts of Afghanistan, at a press conference in Kabul on Thursday.

“Essential election materials have been delivered to 228 remote districts across the country and materials for 60 districts are on its way and 46 other districts materials are being transferred by the end of the day on Thursday,” IEC Spokesman, Noor Mohammad Noor, said. “Materials for remote districts have to be delivered by the end of Thursday and materials for near districts will be delivered tomorrow. Then, Friday evening all election materials will be sent to the polling centers and sites.”

With materials being moved across the country, IEC officials say they have taken all cautionary measures for the runoff elections ensuring that the frauds committed in the first round by IEC personnel and low and high ranking government officials will not take place this round.

The IEC has hired 100,000 people that have been trained to properly and honestly perform their duties on Election Day and the remaining election processes.

“When we have about 100,000 observers from both candidates then there is no room for interference because these observers can monitor the entire process,” Noor said. “The observers hired by the candidates must be committed to them, but if there is interference the commission will not sit calm, instead we will introduce the perpetrators to the judicial institutions.”
