The Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) has announced the removal of three top provincial level officials of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) from their positions each for 10 years on charges of fraud.

The announcement came Wednesday when the ECC revealed that 25 permanent officials of the election commission were accused of fraud and violating the election law in last year's presidential election.

At a press conference on Wednesday and in a 500-page detailed report, the ECC officials revealed that Shah Jahan Sardari, Shafiqullah Wafa and Zarab Gul were the three IEC provincial heads found guilty in their investigations out of 25 accused officials.

ECC added that these officials were the heads of Faryab, Khost and Paktika provincial offices.

Furthermore, the ECC also found its eight officials, four permanent and four commissioners, involved in electoral frauds, suspending them from their positions each for 10 years.

Based on ECC report, 10,629 complaints were recorded in all 34 provinces with Kabul as the leading province during the presidential election.

The report disclosed that the votes cast in 2,062 sites during both rounds of the presidential election were invalidated.

It added that the campaign teams, election observers, IEC officials, security forces, government officials, parliamentarians, illegal armed commanders and the voters helped with frauds in the elections.

The electoral complaints body has also blacklisted nearly 10,000 temporary officials of the IEC over frauds and violations of the election law.
