The Election Commission Selection Committee said Saturday it will receive nomination papers of election commission members from Sunday.
They said it will take ten days for nominations to be handed in and as soon as the deadline has passed they will start studying nominations.
Meanwhile, members of the selection committee said they are still trying to finalize some issues.
The selection committee convened its first meeting on Saturday to discuss the nomination process of candidates for electoral commissions.
"On the basis of the decision of the selection committee, candidates for membership of election commissions may submit their documents to the secretariat of the committee from tomorrow and then we can start the scrutiny of the documents," Fahim Dashti, spokesman for the selection committee said.
But until now, the working procedures of the selection committee have not been finalized.
It is expected that the committee will finalize the working procedure within a few days.
"In the first step, we are trying to finalize the working procedure, then the process of scrutiny of the candidates' document will start, we hope to submit the list of the candidates for the membership of electoral commissions in a month's time," Mohammad Naeem Ayoubzada, member of the selection committee said.
Based on President Ashraf Ghani's recent decree on bringing reforms in the election law, the selection committee is tasked to recommend at least 21 candidates for the membership of the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan (IEC) and another 15 candidates for membership of Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC).
From the figure, seven will be nominated as IEC commissioners and five others as ECC commissioners.
