The chairman of the Peace & Democratic political party Abdullahi Sheikh Hassan said that the traditional clan elders and intellectuals that are protesting the motion against President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to not being ousted in a vote of confidence, should steer well clear from politics as political affairs or disputes should be resolved by Members of Parliament.
Mr. Hassan added that the motion was prepared by the Somali legislators in parliament and that they alone get the final say on whether the President will face a vote of confidence or not.
The chairman of the political party said that there many mass rallies and demonstrations going on in Mogadishu to show support for the President but that hundreds of Somali residents in other regions are ignored.
Yesterday in Mogadishu, the Benadir Regional Administration organized a mass protest in which hundreds of citizens pledged their continuing support for President Hassan Sheikh. MPs, clan elders, children, women and civil society groups participated in the rally.
