Who is Borisa Falatar, Candidate for Member of the Presidency?

Borisa Falatar is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian economist and a former United Nations official. On April 21, 2018, he announced his candidacy for the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is running as the candidate of Naša Stranka, a social liberal and multi-ethnic party.

In his address to public in the premises of Our Party (Nasa Stranka), Falatar said that he candidates as a man who loves his country and who has a vision to make BiH a country of happy and satisfied for its people.

Falatar highlighted that his motive for candidacy, among other things, is to change the system for better and to prevent young people from leaving the county. He continued by telling a personal story of how he went from BiH during the war and how he regretted whole his life.

Falatar was born in Sarajevo on 6 June 1975, and was raised in a mixed Christian and Muslim household. Falatar attended elementary and secondary schools in Sarajevo. He graduated from the American University in Paris, France, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics.

Falatar continued his postgraduate studies at the London School of Economics, where he studied with professor Fred Halliday, and earned his master of sciences degree in Economic Development and International Relations. His master’s thesis was on complex humanitarian emergencies, using Sarajevo as case study.

Later on, Falatar attended Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government as a Mason Fellow. He started his career as a humanitarian worker during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
