Egyptians are voting for a second day in a referendum on a new constitution drawn up following the ousting of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi.

The army-backed government is seeking a "Yes" vote to endorse his removal.

Mr Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood, which has been designated a terrorist group, is boycotting the vote.

Wednesday's voting has so far passed off peacefully, in contrast to Tuesday when nine people died in clashes involving Mr Morsi's supporters.

The committee responsible for amending the Egyptian constitution finished voting on a new draft of the charter on Sunday evening, approving four articles that had not been passed in earlier sessions.

The articles were discussed at a closed meeting on Sunday evening, before a final session at which they were passed. All of the articles relate to the upcoming elections.

The Misr Al-Qawia Party, the National Coalition to Support Legitimacy (NCSL) and the Press Syndicate have criticised draft amendments to the 2012 constitution proposed by the legal experts’ committee.

The legal experts committee, consisting of 10 legal and constitutional experts, submitted an amended draft of the 2012 constitution, to be further amended by the constituent assembly, comprised of 50 members.

The Egyptian presidency received on Wednesday draft constitutional amendments from the judicial committee, which spent one month revising articles from the suspended 2012 constitution, according to a presidency statement.

A decree on 8 July by interim president Adly Mansour ordered that a 10-member judicial committee  be formed to propose amendments to the suspended 2012 constitution within thirty days from the date of its formation.

El presidente interino de Egipto, Adli Mansur, ha recibido este martes el borrador constitucional elaborado por un comité técnico y según el cual, en caso de aprobarse, quedarían prohibidos los partidos basados en ideologías religiosas, aunque el Islam seguiría siendo la religión del Estado.

   Después de un mes de deliberaciones y revisiones, los diez miembros del comité técnico han finalizado la redacción del nuevo borrador, con el que han modificado la Constitución de 2012, según ha informado el diario egipcio 'Al Ahram'.

El Gobierno egipcio ha dicho que encargará a las fuerzas de seguridad que tomen "todas las medidas necesarias" para poner fin a las acampadas de protesta de los islamistas en El Cairo, al considerar que suponen "un peligro para la seguridad nacional y la paz social". Además, la fiscalía ha avanzado en el procesamiento de los líderes de los Hermanos Musulmanes por "incitación a la violencia".

Las calles de Egipto volvieron a evidenciar este viernes la profunda división que experimenta el país. Decenas de miles de personas participaron en las manifestaciones convocadas por las dos instituciones más poderosas del país, el Ejército y los Hermanos Musulmanes, enfrentadas en un vitriólico duelo desde que el expresidente Mohamed Morsi fuera depuesto en un golpe militar el pasado 3 de julio.
