ElBaradei beefs up Constitution Party leadership

Constitution Party leader Mohamed ElBaradei on Sunday reshuffled the party's steering committee and made changes to the party's structure in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary election. 

The new steering committee includes former Democratic Front Party deputy leader Ibrahim Nawar; former Free Egyptians Party leader Basel Adel; Ghad Party founder Gamila Ismail; Kefaya founding member George Isaac; prominent legal expert Hossam Eisa; prominent writer Alaa Al-Aswany; New Woman Foundation founding member Hala Shukrallah; and prominent filmmaker Yousry Nassrallah. 

Nour’s Salafist splinter group forms new party

Emad Abdel-Ghafour, who resigned as head of Salafist Nour party last week, has announced the launch of new Al-Watan (Homeland) party Tuesday.

Under the slogan of "A free homeland and dignified people", Abdel-Ghafour announced the launch of the party during a news conference that was held at Al-Azhar conference hall in the eastern Cairo district of Madinet Nasr.

Negotiations ongoing to create Islamist electoral coalition

Gamaa Islamiya's official spokesperson, Tarek El-Zomor, told Ahram's Arabic-language website Sunday that negotiations were ongoing to create an Islamist coalition to run for the next parliamentary elections. The coalition will exclude the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP).

An Islamist electoral coalition, excluding the Muslim Brotherhood, is in the making says Al-Gamaa Al-Islamiya's official spokesperson Tarek El-Zomor.
