Algerians staged demonstrations in capital Algiers on the first Friday of the Ramadan fasting month to reiterate their demand for the immediate departure of all government officials linked to the regime of former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

The 82-year-old Bouteflika stepped down early last month following weeks of popular protest against his 20-year rule.

The army is now overseeing a 90-day transitional period, and has promised to hold presidential elections sometime in July.

Hundreds of supporters of an opposition presidential candidate marched in Indonesia on Friday (May 10) to protest against what they called election fraud, as the government warned that efforts to cast doubt on the outcome could amount to treason.

The protesters, spurred by unofficial results of last month's election showing that Prabowo Subianto lost to incumbent President Joko Widodo, called for fairness and vigilance in the vote counting process.

Thousands of protesters continued to stage demonstrations on the first Friday of Ramadan outside army headquarters in Khartoum to demand that Sudan’s ruling Military Transitional Council (MTC) hand over power to a civilian authority.

In a Friday sermon delivered near the protest, Abdul-Rahman Hassan, a prominent preacher, urged the MTC to prosecute figures close to ousted President Omar al-Bashir for their alleged role in violence against protesters.

Dozens of Lebanese military and security veterans burned tires and shouted angrily outside government offices on Friday, their second protest in less than two weeks amid fears a proposed austerity budget may affect their pensions and benefits.

The protesters gathered in downtown Beirut as ministers met to discuss a budget bill that aims to cut public spending and tackle a national debt that stands at more than 150% of GDP. They denounced leaked reports of cuts to their pensions, calling on the government to address corruption instead.

Louisa Hanoune, secrétaire générale du parti des Travailleurs (PT) a été placée, ce jeudi 9 mai, sous mandat de dépôt par le procureur du tribunal militaire de Blida et transférée à la prison civile de Blida. «Louisa Hanoune est arrêtée pour ses positions politiques. Un communiqué de presse sera publié dans un petit moment », a dénoncé le PT dans un message sur sa page Facebook.
Louisa Hanoune, avait été convoquée, ce jeudi 9 mai, par le procureur du tribunal militaire de Blida, a annoncé l’ENTV en diffusant ses images lors de son arrivée au tribunal militaire.
