The Election Complaint Commission (ECC) will send five additional provincial commissioners to each province to work in finance, investigation management and complaint evaluations.
“We provided a three-day seminar to 170 members. These educational seminars make participants ready to perform their jobs in the provinces,” Head of ECC Secretariat Sediq Setegh said.
The employees are to work closely with the provincial commissioners to address complaints in regards to electoral campaigns as well as complaints against presidential candidates or provincial council candidates.
Insecurity and lack of technical staff are among the major challenges faced by ECC.
“We are not in a good shape logistically which could lead to some problems in the future," ECC Investigation and Complaints Evaluation Manager in Nimroz, Parwez Nowbahari said.
“We have many security problems. Traveling from here [Kabul] to Zabul is especially challenging,” ECC Investigation and Complaints Evaluation Manager in Zabul, Sebghatullah said.

ECC officials claim to have received 20 complaints since the start of presidential and provincial council campaigns. The commission has assured to hire more employees if needed.
