K-P Governor respects replacement decision by federal govt

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Governor Engineer Shaukatullah Khan said that the federal government has decided to replace him and that he will leave the office in honour of that decision.

He said this while talking to journalists at the Governor House during a civil awards ceremony on Sunday.

Khan further said that every governor has to leave the office according to an established system, adding that he was glad that he spent all his time in public service as the Governor. He also appreciated the honesty and devotion of his team during his tenure.

About the peace talks between the government and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Khan said that the location for the peace talks had been decided but they were not willing to disclose it yet.

He said that the members of the government committee Rustam Shah Mohmand, Najibullah Khattak and Arbab Arif were experience with tribal affairs. He mentioned that he was in close contact with both the committees and sought success of the peace talks.

The Governor on behalf of President Mamnoon Hussain gave civil awards to nine people in different fields.

Professor Dr Amin Badshah and Dr Jsmin received the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz for their services in the field of chemistry, Professor Dr Zahoor Ahmad in the field of Agriculture, Dr Sharifullah in computer science, Akhtar Naeem Khan for his services in teaching, Nazir Gul for his achievements in the field of music, Professor Dr Nazir Ahmad Tabbasum for services in literature, Dr Bakht Jamal and Dr Muhammad Naeem for their services during difficult times in Swat and Shangla.
