Khartoum’s SCSP to engage in dialogue with "outlaws"

The Supreme Council for Social Peace (SCSP) in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum said it has received a list containing names of criminal gangs from the police in order to engage in dialogue with them.

It said in a statement on Saturday that political instability has negatively impacted peaceful coexistence, calling for the need to analyze causes behind violence that accompanied the protests which erupted last September.

Golkar will support Jokowi to avoid becoming opposition

The Golkar Party said Friday it would likely join forces with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) as it had no history of being in opposition. 

A Golkar senior member has confirmed that the party is only inches from forging an alliance with the election winner to endorse the candidacy of Jakarta Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in the upcoming presidential election.

Teluk Intan by-election: Gerakan chief Mah is BN candidate

IPOH: Barisan Nasional has named Gerakan president Datuk Mah Siew Keong (pix) as the candidate for the Teluk Intan by-election on May 31.

The announcement was made by Barisan deputy chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Saturday.

Muhyiddin said Mah, 53, had the experience and track record to serve the people well when given the chance.

He said Mah was a two-term Teluk Intan MP before he lost in the last two general elections.

TELUK INTAN: Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud (pic)has been named the DAP candidate for the Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election.

 

Dyana Sofya, 27, political-secretary to Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang, was unveiled by party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng at the opening of the party's by-election operations centre here on Saturday.

Seated between Guan Eng and acting party chairman Tan Kok Wai, the Ipoh-born Dyana appeared calm and composed as she met with other Pakatan Rakyat leaders.

Les interventions de certains citoyens lors de la campagne de promotion de la nouvelle constitution au palais des congrès de Tunis, se sont axées notamment sur la nécessite d’amender la loi 52 relative à la consommation des stupéfiants et le droit de grève. 

Par ailleurs un des membres du parti Ettahrir a indiqué lors de son allocution qu’il refuse cette constitution qui sera, selon lui, dans la poubelle de l’histoire. 

Hold back support for PAS until it drops hudud plan, says DAP man

JOHOR BARU: A DAP member has asked non-Muslims, particularly the Chinese, to hold back their support for PAS until the party withdraws unconditionally its plans of tabling any Private Members Bill to implement its brand of hudud.

Norman Fernandez urged the Chinese to send a loud and clear message to PAS that the Chinese would not vote for the party as long as it did not subscribe to the Common Manifesto Platform, which makes no mention of hudud.

PAS, he said, must realise that there was real danger that it could lose all of its four state seats in Johor.

Leading Afghan presidential candidates brace for round two

ISLAMABAD: Leading candidates Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani Ahmedzai accepted the final results of the April 5 Afghan presidential elections shortly after the country’s poll panel announced a run-off. The second round of polling became necessary as none of the candidates bagged the 50% plus one vote in the first round.

The run-off will be conducted on June 14, 2014, said Afghanistan’s Independent Election Commission (IEC) Chairman Dr Ahmad Yusuf Nuristani.

Le président des Fares,  visiblement satisfait par la faible mobilisation des militants de la C lll, était à la tête d’une délégation d’environ cinq membres. A travers ces rencontres, le BEN entend échanger avec les militants  à la base autour des conclusions de leur premier congrès ordinaire, mais aussi et surtout sur la vie du parti.

Ansar sect warns government against harming al-Mahdi

Al-Ansar sect, the religious arm of Sudan’s National Umma Party (NUP) warned the government today against inflicting any harm on al-Sadiq al-Mahdi, a day after he appeared for questioning on statements he made on Rapid Support Forces (RSF) last week.

The lead of Friday prayers at the Ansar Mosque in Wad-Nubawi on Friday, Adam Ahmed Youssef, stressed in the sermon that the Sudanese government will be held responsible for any harm that to al-Mahdi.
