Annoncées pour mars-avril 2014 par l’ex-ministre de l’administration territoriale, Gal Moussa Sinko Coulibaly, les élections municipales auront finalement lieu au mois d’octobre 2014 au grand dam des politiques. Lors du conseil des ministres du 26 février 2014,  le gouvernement a décidé de proroger les mandats des Conseils communaux, des Conseils de cercle, des Conseils régionaux et du Conseil du District de Bamako pour une durée de six mois.

Al-Sadiq al-Mahdi, head of the National Umma Party (NUP), stood by statements he made this month in which he accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of committing serious abuses in conflict zones such as rape as well as looting and burning villages.

Al-Mahdi appeared today before state security prosecutors to respond to a criminal complaint against him filed by the National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) in light of these remarks.

KUCHING: Infighting in two Barisan Nasional component parties of SPDP and SUPP has boiled over with the majority of their elected representatives quitting and uniting under a new party - Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras).

Resigning from SPDP is its president Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom and the senior most leader from SUPP is Sibu Chief Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh.

Both Mawan and Wong are state ministers.

The new party claims to have 11 assemblyman and MPs, thus making it the second largest party among Sarawak Barisan component after Parti Persaka Bumiputera Bersatu.

MIRI: Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing is the new acting president of Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) taking over the post late Thursday afternoon.

Tiong, who is Bintulu MP, automatically assumes the acting president post following the sudden announcement by party president Tan Sri William Mawan that he (Mawan) had quit the SPDP to join newly-registered party TERAS.

Tiong assumes the acting president post by virtue of the fact that he was Deputy President during Mawan's tenure and is the second man in line for the top post, said SPDP Youth Chief Robert Ayu.

Après le congrès que les Forces Alternatives pour le Renouveau et l’Emergence (FARE) ont organisé les 15 et 16 mars 2014, congrès qui a d’ailleurs placé Modibo Sidibé à la tête de ce parti politique, les FARE ont dorénavant inséré dans leur agenda une série de rencontres avec leurs militants, sympathisants, clubs et amis dans les six communes du District de Bamako, pour échanger avec eux sur la vie du parti, les résolutions issues du congrès et les préparatifs des élections communales à venir.

Le secrétaire général de l’Union Patriotique Libre, Maher Ben Dhia a insisté, lors de l’émission « A La Page » que la nécessité de sortir le pays de la phase de transition et de tenir les élections avant la fin de cette année conformément à la constitution. 

Maher Ben Dhia a indiqué que son parti veut la tenue des élections législatives et présidentielles séparément tout comme la plupart des partis politiques, soulignant que seul le mouvement Ennahdha veut la tenue simultanée des deux processus.

The leader of the opposition National Umma Party (NUP), al-Sadiq al-Mahdi, is scheduled to appear on Thursday before the state security prosecutor for questioning regarding the complaint filed by the National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) after he accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of committing serious abuses in Darfur.

The NUP distributed SMS messages and issued a statement confirming that al-Mahdi is determined to appear before the prosecutors amid expectations that a large crowd of his supporters will be present.
