 C’est,  du moins ce qu’à déclaré,  le Premier Ministre hier  juste après le Conseil de Cabinet  qui a vu la signature par les ministres de son Gouvernement  des 14 commandements appelés « Engagement d’Ethique et de Responsabilité du Membre du Gouvernement de la République ».

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman stated on Thursday that if elections were to be held in the Palestinian territories, as Fatah and Hamas have agreed, it is clear that Hamas would win in both Gaza and the West Bank, according to the Times of Israel newspaper.

The newspaper reported that Lieberman told Israel Radio: "It is clear that as soon as Abbas chose to unite with Hamas, it is impossible to make peace with Israel."

El presidente de Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz, ha presentado oficialmente este jueves su candidatura a las próximas elecciones presidenciales, que se celebrarán el 21 de junio, según ha informado la agencia estatal mauritana de noticias, AMI.

"Las candidaturas están abiertas y yo, como presidente actual de la República Islámica de Mauritania, presentaré la mía. Si algunos cuentan con boicotear las elecciones, yo no formaré parte (de sus esfuerzos)", dijo el mandatario en unas declaraciones ofrecidas el miércoles.

Egypt’s army claims complete control over Sinai Peninsula

The Egyptian military Thursday said it had gained “complete control over the situation” in the Sinai Peninsula, where Islamist insurgents have been carrying out attacks against security forces for several months.

Violence has spiraled in the Sinai since last July when the army toppled President Mohammad Morsi, prompting militants who had previously focused on attacks against neighboring Israel to turn their attention to Egyptian police and military targets.

Somali presidential spokesman and senior adviser Abdirahman Omar Osman Yarisow resigned from his post on Thursday (April 24th) after serving for one year, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.

Yarisow declined to provide an explanation for his resignation and denied speculation that it was related to a disagreement with high-ranking officials.

Previously he held several positions during Somalia's transitional federal governments, including minister of information, posts and telecommunications.

 

Turkey's spy agency granted extraordinary powers, as President Gül approves MİT law

Turkish President Abdullah Gül has approved a bill expanding the powers and immunities of the country’s spy agency amid strong reactions from opposition parties which argued that the bill will turn the country into "an intelligence state."

Gül’s office announced that the bill was signed into law by Gül late April 25. The bill was much criticized by the opposition parties on the grounds that it will increase the National Intelligence Organization's (MİT) powers without adequate checks and balances.

Kabul: Former foreign minister Abdullah Abdullah retained a clear lead in the latest Afghan presidential election results released on Thursday, but he remained below the threshold needed for a decisive first-round victory.

Mr Abdullah has secured 43.8 per cent of the vote, with his main rival Ashraf Ghani on 32.9 per cent, election officials said, after about 80 per cent of ballots were counted.

If no candidate gains more than 50 per cent, a second-round run-off between the two leading names is scheduled for May 28.

Gerindra, PDI-P top spenders in 2014 poll

The Gerindra Party has emerged as the biggest spender in the 2014 legislative election.

In its final campaign financial report, the party claims to have spent Rp 435 billion (US$37.5 million) on its campaign, eightfold more than the Rp 53 billion the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI) spent on its campaign.

The PKPI spent less than any other party on its campaign. 

Behind Gerindra is the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), which spent Rp 404 billion, followed closely by the Golkar Party with Rp 402 billion.

Suryadharma on the losing side in PPP conflict

Cabinet approves Central Bank Governor and his deputy and discusses the establishment of regional administrations

Mogadishu, April 24, 2014 – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia His Excellency Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed chaired the Somali Cabinet’s regular session today, during which cabinet members discussed the approval of the Governor of the Central Bank and his deputy. Members also discussed the formation of administrations in the country’s regions and districts.

Dans une interview accordée à France Press, le Chef du Gouvernement provisoire, Mehdi Jomaa, a déclaré qu'il y a une probabilité de voir les élections retardées. Mehdi Jomaa a assuré que son gouvernement fait tout son possible pour permettre leur tenue avant la fin de 2014 comme indiqué dans la Feuille de Route, mais que le retard enregistré par l'Assemblée Constituante pour valider la Loi Électorale pourrait avoir des répercussions sur la date finale à laquelle ces élections sont prévues. 

 

Political Parties’ Legislative Campaign Funds Total Rp 3.1t: KPU

Jakarta. The 12 political parties that competed in the April 9 legislative election had campaign funds totaling Rp 3.1 trillion ($272 million), according to the nation’s election committee.

The Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) topped the list with the most funds, at Rp 434.9 billion, while the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI) had the least, at Rp 52.9 billion, according to the General Elections Committee (KPU).

The KPU set the deadline at 6 p.m. on April 24 for parties to submit their reports on final campaign funding for the legislative election.

Loi Électorale : 161 articles déjà validés

Les députés de l'Assemblée Constituante ont validé jusqu'à présent 161 articles du projet de la Loi Électorale sur un total de 170 articles. Les neufs articles restants, se rapportant en majorité aux crimes électoraux, seront examinés par la commission de consensus dans les journées à venir.
