The House of Representatives passed its Anti-Terrorism Law today. According to an HoR official, it was approved by a majority of the 116 members who took part in the vote.

Neither the actual figure nor the text of the law has been published so far, although the official said that they would be tomorrow.

The law is not thought to contain names of individuals or groups identified as terrorists.  Rather it sets out to define those who are terrorists. They are believed to include any group that terrorises ordinary civilians, either by use of arms or by threats.

The HoR has taken longer to approve the law than was expected – largely, it is said, because members were hoping initiate a working dialogue with those who would be classified as terrorists under the act.
