Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni, President of the House of Representatives Ageela Saleh and Major-General Abdulrazzak Nazhuri, the Chief of Staff, today flew to Abu Dhabi for talks on ways the UAE can support Libya during the present crisis.

The Libyan delegation which arrived this evening also included Communications Minister Osama Siala, Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdulaziz and number of other senior officials. It was met at the airport by Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, together with the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of UAE’s Federal National and Aref Ali Nayed, Libyan Ambassador to the UAE.

A series of meetings is expected to take place this evening and tomorrow in Abu Dhabi.

The Libyan government is reported to be looking, among other things, for financial support to enable state institutions loyal to it and the House of Representatives to operate.

This is Nazhuri’s first visit to the UAE since being appointed Chief of Staff late last month. He has, however, been three times to Egypt for talks with the Egyptian Chief of Staff Egyptian Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mahmoud Hegazy, most recently the day before yesterday.

Egypt and the UAE, one of the major backers of the National Transitional Council during the revolution in 2011, are prominent among Arab supporters of HoR and the government at present. Both have been accused by the opposition Libya Dawn operation of being behind last month’s raids on itw positions in Tripoli.
