The Justice and Construction Party has said that it will participate in a national dialogue but only if all parties involved agree to respect the political process.

Specifically, the Muslim Brotherhood-linked party insisted that the Supreme Court’s November ruling be respected. This, it said, called for the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR).

“We urge all parties to sit at the dialogue table, regardless of size, or differences,” said Justice and Construction party head Mohamed Sawan in an interview with Solidarity News Agency.

In addition to the precondition, which is seen as unlikely to gain any acceptance from pro-HoR groups, Sawan went on to say that “all Libyans” agreed that dialogue was the best way to resolve the current crisis, but that his party refused to participate in a dialogue with “symbols of the former regime”.

As it is, UNSMIL’s planned dialogue in Libya, already delayed three times, is looking increasingly unlikely to take place on 5 January.
