Prime Minister Abdullah Thinni has said that he will not give way to the United Nations’ Government of National Accord unless it has been approved by the House of Representatives.

Cutting to the heart of the issue of the legitimacy of the UN-brokered government Thinni said today in Benghazi that his administration would disregard any government that had not been legitimised by the HoR.  He said he would not be pressured by UNSMIL Chief Martin Kobler and international powers that were seeking to impose a national government.

Thinni drove home the point that he still headed the legitimate administration appointed by parliament by announcing as series of initiatives. These included the creation of committees to assess compensation for the owners of properties damaged in the fighting in Benghazi and a LFD25 million project to build 500 new homes in the city.
