Gerindra-Hanura Coalition on the Cards, Official Says

Jakarta. One-time military rivals and now presidential aspirants Prabowo Subianto and Wiranto may be about to form a coalition ahead of the July 9 election, an official has hinted.

“We have a coalition partner, we just need to wait for the right time to announce it,” Ali Kastela, a member of the central executive board of Wiranto’s People’s Conscience Party, or Hanura, said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

L'avocate Oula Ben Nejma est intervenue dans Midi Show de ce mardi 13 mai 2014, en réponse aux déclarations de son collègue Houcine Hajlaoui qui a fait appel auprès du tribunal administratif contre sa nomination au sein de l'instance de la vérité et de la dignité à sa place. 

Oula Ben Nejma a affirmé qu'elle n'appartient pas à Ennahdha et que si c'était le cas elle ne le cacherait pas.

PETALING JAYA: PAS Kuala Terengganu MP Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad has said that the fate of Terengganu ought to be left to the people, and suggested fresh elections as a solution to the crisis that erupted with the resignation of former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said from Umno on Monday.

“Fresh elections will ensure more stability and certainty in the state. It will also be more fair to the people,” he said told The Star Online on Tuesday.

“Our attitude at the moment is to wait and see the overall development unfold,” said Raja Kamarul.

KUALA TERENGGANU: Datuk Seri Ahmad Said (pic) quit Umno hours after he was replaced by Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman as Terengganu Mentri Besar late Monday.

Ahmad, who is Kijal assemblyman, was joined by Umno's Ajil assemblyman Ghazali Taib in quitting the party to become independent assemblymen.

This is confirmed to The Star by an aide of Ahmad.

The aide said that Ahmad would hold a press conference on Tuesday.

PETALING JAYA: Terengganu PAS is holding an emergency meeting over the state's "political crisis" and has urged party members to remain calm.

State commissioner Satiful Bahri Mamat said the party's state leadership would take the best possible decision to resolve the crisis.

"We will make appropriate announcements from time to time through the official media, to avoid any rumours and statements that are not the decision of PAS leadership," he said in a statement Tuesday.

Kuwait’s justice and Islamic affairs minister has resigned after a senior U.S. official said he had called for jihad in Syria and promoted the funding of terrorism.

Last month Nayef al-Ajmi rejected the comments made in March by U.S. Treasury Undersecretary David Cohen as “groundless and baseless,” and was backed by the cabinet.

But on Monday, Ajmi said the Gulf state’s ruler had accepted his resignation, local news service al-Rai reported on Monday. Kuwaiti media reported last month that he had already offered to resign once, citing health reasons.

PDI-P mulls coalition with Hanura

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) is considering inviting the Hanura Party to join a coalition it has formed with two other parties – the NasDem Party and the National Awakening Party (PKB) – ahead of the upcoming presidential race.

PDI-P deputy secretary general Ahmad Basarah said his party had kept the option for a coalition with Hanura ‘on the table’ due to their mutual cooperation platform.

Next Egyptian parliament to have 630 seats

The incoming Egyptian parliament will consist of 630 members, up from 454 members in the 2012 parliament elected under ousted president Mohamed Morsi, legal committee spokesman Mohamed Fawzy announced Sunday.

The legal committee was created by Interim President Adly Mansour via presidential decree on 14 April to amend laws in preparation for the coming parliamentary elections, including the Political Participation Law.

Women may get 79 House seats, fewer than 2009: Researchers

Women may get 79 or 14 percent of the total seats in the House of Representatives following April's legislative election; a figure that was lower than the historic high of 18 percent or 103 seats in the 2009 election, researchers said Monday.

This is despite more women candidates, accounting for 37 percent or 2,467 of the total 6,619 candidates, contesting the 560 House seats.

Le fondateur du courant Al Mostakbal au sein de Nidaa Tounes, Taher Ben Hassine a déclaré lors d’une interview accordée lundi 12 mai 2014 à Saida Hammami que le conflit au sein du parti est un conflit d’opinions et d’idées, il a ajouté que 'les affluents par hasard' au parti sont ceux qui appréhendent la tenue du congrès. 
Il a indiqué dans le même contexte que le courant de l’Avenir a été reçu favorablement par certains dirigeants de Nidaa Tounes, le chef du parti Beji Caied Essebsi ne s’est pas opposé à l’idée puisqu’elle existait déjà au sein de la loi de base du parti.

A la faveur d’un meeting organisé samedi par la section VI des Forces alternatives pour le changement et l’émergence (Fare), Modibo Sidibé a déclaré que le parti est dans une opposition constructive. Selon l’ex-Premier ministre, la décision est issue du congrès et il n’est pas question de revenir sur une recommandation des militants.

Deux mois après son investiture à la présidence des Forces alternatives pour le changement et l’émergence, l’ex-Premier ministre a entamé une tournée pour expliquer les recommandations issues lors du congrès des 15 et 16 mars derniers aux militants.

Somali Members of Parliament (MPs) as usual, convened today for their daily session at the National Assembly in Mogadishu. Mahad Abdalla Awad, the second deputy parliament speaker announced that the motion against the Interior Minister will be delayed until further notice.

In yesterday’s sitting, over 65 MPs brought forward a motion to the second deputy speaker of parliament requesting that lawmakers hold a vote of confidence for the Minister of Interior & Federalism, Abdullahi Godax Barre.
