El secretario general de la ONU, Ban Ki-moon, se declaró hoy "indignado" por los últimos ataques terroristas contra la misión de la organización en Mali y anunció que va a presentar propuestas para reforzar la operación.

Ban reaccionó así a dos atentados perpetrados este martes contra intereses de Naciones Unidas en el norte de Mali, que dejaron cuatro muertos y que fueron reivindicados por el grupo yihadista Al Murabitún, afiliado a Al Qaeda del Magreb Islámico (AQMI).

Sudán del Sur y Sudán reanudaron hoy conversaciones sobre temas sumamente complejos, entre ellos la delimitación de las fronteras y los ingresos por la explotación petrolera, aspectos pendientes desde 2011, cuando se separaron.

Según opinaron analistas políticos, Jartum espera que la mejora de las relaciones bilaterales pueda ayudar a resolver el asunto de las rebeliones persistentes en ambos lados de la frontera y que también provocaron una prolongada guerra de palabras.

As Kyrgyzstan marked the Day of Parliamentarism on June 4, Kyrgyz MP Dastan Bekeshev said that parliamentary democracy is still developing in Kyrgyzstan. "It is too early to say that the parliamentary governance has been established in Kyrgyzstan, so it is necessary to further strengthen it,” he said at the roundtable dedicated to the development of the parliamentary system in Kyrgyzstan.

Parliamentary development is not a constitutional experiment, Bekeshev believes. "We have a parliamentary-presidential form of governance but not yet fully parliamentary governance," he said.

The Indonesian military (TNI) is rolling out a plan aimed at improving the lives of Sulawesi residents affected by the threat of terrorism from the East Indonesia Mujahideen (MIT).

Militants from the terror group and its leader Santoso, who have been hiding out in Poso regency in Central Sulawesi, are the subject of the largest manhunt in Indonesia.

The spillover violence from their activities have resulted in some hardship for people living in the central and northern parts of the island.

La jefa de la diplomacia de la Unión Europea, Federica Mogherini, animó hoy a las fuerzas políticas albanesas a adoptar mañana en el Parlamento una reforma judicial que acercará al país a los estándares comunitarios.

"Puede abrir el camino a un nuevo comienzo, y por eso esperamos que todas las fuerzas políticas utilicen mañana la ronda final de consultas para aprobar la propuesta" sobre la reforma judicial, declaró Mogherini en un comunicado.

South Sudan presidency agrees to review 28 states

 In unexpected move which is described as a breakthrough, the South Sudan’s presidency has agreed to review the 28 states and come up with a recommendation on the number of new states within 30 days.Kiir, First Vice President, Riek Machar and Vice President, James Wani, at the presidential palace on Wednesday.

In a joint statement to the press by the two deputies after the meeting, a committee of 15 members will be constituted from all the parties to the August 2015 peace agreement and from the international partners to come up with recommendation on new states.

Brussels Urges Albania to Complete a Judicial Reform Package

The European Union is urging Albania to complete a package of judicial reforms if it wants to launch full membership talks with the bloc.

Referencing Albania's upcoming appearance in soccer's European Championship in France, the EU's top official for enlargement Johannes Hahn, said in a statement Tuesday that "the coming days will be decisive whether Albania will advance in the Euro Championship or stays in the group stage."
