LODHRAN: Voting for the by-poll in National Assembly constituency NA-154, Lodhran, started at 8am Wednesday morning and will continue till 5pm.

Most prominent among the twenty candidates contesting the election are PML-N's Siddique Khan Baloch, who was elected in the 2013 general election from the same constituency but was disqualified by an election tribunal, and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf's (PTI) Jahangir Tareen.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Election observers say they are concerned about the rejection of a presidential decree on the Electoral Reform Commission’s suggestions by the Wolesi Jirga, asking the government to find any other viable solution to the complex situation.

Mohammad Yousuf Rashid, the Free Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan (FEFA) chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News they were shocked by the lower house’s decision.

Rafsanjani signs up list of candidacy for Experts Assembly election

Tehran, Dec 21, IRNA – Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on Monday registered for the 5th Experts Assembly election, slated for February.

Speaking to reporters, Ayatollah Rafsanjani said the Experts Assembly is the pivot, basis and pillar of Islamic Revolution.

He said in the next few months, the new Experts Assembly and Majlis will be formed – both playing key role in country’s destiny.

He added those winning public votes will shoulder grave responsibility.

 

No direct interaction between male, female council members

DAMMAM — Women members of municipal councils will not interact with their male counterparts face-to-face, according to Director General of Municipal Councils Affairs Judai Al-Qahtani.

“We are making a lot of new adjustments with the participation of women in the council. However, we will not compromise the religious boundaries. Female members have equal rights as male members of the council but they will not have mixed meetings,” said Al-Qahtani.
