Pro-Sisi coalition to run for 100% of parliament seats
The "Independence Current" that backs Egypt's new President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will run for all of the seats in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
In a conference on Sunday, the coalition said it will run for the 420 seats, adding that its manifesto is based on believing in the principles of the January 25 and June 30 uprisings as well as the importance of social democracy and social justice, the state news agency said.
They added that one of their purposes is also to prevent Islamists and corruption figures from reaching the next parliament.
Kataeb calls for immediate presidential election
The Kataeb Party Monday called for the immediate election of a president and urged teachers to start grading official exams, following a union announcement that they would boycott grading until the new salary scale is passed.
In a statement after the weekly meeting of its political bureau, the party said that "in light of the dangerous events in Iraq, and the spread of fundamentalist movements in the Arab world," electing a president was necessary so that Lebanon's democratic political institutions would function normally.

Egypt's political groups to attend protest law constitutional challenge court session
Several Egyptian political groups have called on opponents of the protest law to head in numbers to Egypt's State Council on Tuesday to attend the second court session of a case challenging the constitutionality of the controversial law.
The case was originally brought by the Egyptian Centre for Economic and Social Right -- founded by rights lawyer and former leftist presidential candidate Khaled Ali -- to demand authorities to rescind the law that heavily restricts protests.

Iraq's Supreme Court ratifies election results
Iraq's supreme court ratified the results of the April 30 parliamentary elections on Monday.
"The court has approved the results of the elections except for four candidates who have ongoing trials against them," Supreme Judicial Council spokesperson Abdul Sattar Bayraktar told Anadolu Agency.
The State of Law bloc led by Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki won the the parliamentary elections, taking 92 of the 328 seats.
Predominantly Shia al-Muwatin ended up with 29 seats, while the Mutahidoun bloc of Sunni Muslims got 23 seats.
Observers Announce Runoff Findings
Election observers from the European Union (EU) and the Free and Fair Elections Foundation of Afghanistan (FEFA) held a joint press conference in Kabul on Monday where they released their preliminary reports on fraud in the presidential runoff election.
While the EU delegation reported no fraud from the sites its monitors were located at on Saturday, the Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan (FEFA), one of the country's largest monitoring groups, said its observers documented a large amount of fraud across various regions.
