The National Election Committee (NEC) will organise a series of seminars on the Federal National Council (FNC) elections across the country. The educational seminars will be organised from August 9 to 19 to raise awareness of the members of the electoral college on the regulatory and legal aspects of the electoral process.
The seminars will review the FNC programme and experiences of the two previous elections in 2006 and 2011, as well as the electoral college data related to 2006, 2011 and 2015. It will look at the most important stages of the electoral process based on the timetable for elections in 2015. The NEC will also explain the rights and duties of the voter as well as the rules concerning candidates in the elections.
Tariq Hilal Lootah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for FNC Affairs and Chairman of the Election Management Committee, said the seminars will be held in all seven emirates to ensure that maximum number of people benefit from them. This, he said, will contribute to enhanced participation in the elections scheduled to be held on October 3.
