With a day left for nominations, 259 Emiratis, including 52 women, have registered their names for the upcoming Federal National Council Elections (FNC).
On Wednesday, the fourth day of candidate registration, 62 candidates, including 19 women, filed their papers at the candidate registration centres across the emirates.
The registration process - which has seen an overwhelming response from the citizens - for the Oct.3 FNC polls concludes today. According to the timetable for the elections, the National Election Committee (NEC) will declare the preliminary list of candidates on Aug. 23, and the final list on Aug. 31.
The candidates can request withdrawal of their nomination not later than Sept.14.
NEC has urged citizens to check whether their names are included in the Electoral College list either online www.uaenec.ae, or by contacting NEC call centre 600500005.
