LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidates from UC 206 have accused their Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) opponents of using public funds to influence voters.

The union council comprises Gopalnagar, Bhabra, Nawaz Sharif Colony and Naseerabad. There are 21,000 registered voters here.

Hafiz Muhammad Naveed and Chaudhry Jahangir Ahmed Sindhu are the PTI candidates for chairman and vice chairman respectively.

Muhammad Dastagir Khan is in the run from the PML-N for chairman and Mian Liaquat Ali for vice chairman.

Naveed says that Khan had distributed rations among the residents using public funds to garner support.

Khan denies the charge. “I did distribute rations among people, but I did it from my own pocket in the name of Allah. I will continue to do this till my last breath. While I am distributing rations, I do not ask people to vote for the PML-N,” he says. He says that if elected, he will provide clean drinking water and sewage drains in the locality.
