The speaker of Tulungagung Legislative Council (DPRD) in East Java, Supriyono, who has been named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in a graft case, garnered the most votes in last month’s election.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) in Tulungagung announced the vote count results in the regency, showing that Supriyono got 10,192 votes.

“That’s the highest number of votes for Tulungagung Legislative Council,” Tulungagung KPU head, Mustofa, told The Jakarta Post on Friday.

Ahead of the official announcement of the 2019 general election results on May 22, Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno campaign team member Fadli Zon said the team would not dispute the election results at the Constitutional Court.

The deputy chairman of the Gerindra Party said Prabowo and then-running mate Hatta Rajasa challenged the 2014 presidential election results at the court, but it proved to be “a waste of time.”

Hundreds of supporters of an opposition presidential candidate marched in Indonesia on Friday (May 10) to protest against what they called election fraud, as the government warned that efforts to cast doubt on the outcome could amount to treason.

The protesters, spurred by unofficial results of last month's election showing that Prabowo Subianto lost to incumbent President Joko Widodo, called for fairness and vigilance in the vote counting process.

After much huffing and puffing, the government officially rebuked on Wednesday circulating allegations by the opposition parties that it was involved in a so-called conspiracy to rig the election for a certain candidate pair’s advantage.

Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Wiranto called the accusation, which alleged that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s administration was involved in “structured, systematic and massive” vote-rigging, was baseless.

The government agency tasked with organizing elections is scrambling to find extra funds to compensate the families of polling station workers who have died on duty during last week's simultaneous presidential and legislative elections.

Arief Budiman, chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU), said at a press conference at the agency's offices in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Monday that at least 91  have died and 374 have fallen ill while carrying out their duties.

With Itranbey falling victim to exhaustion and overwork, the death toll nationwide reached 92.

Re-voting on Bintan added three polling stations

The number of polling stations (TPS) in re-voting in Bintan district, Riau Islands province is increased to four  from three previously.

Chairman of the Bintan District Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu)   Febriadinata, in Bintan, Sunday, said the initial voting was at TPS 02 Ekang Village Anculai, District Teluk Bintan, and the number has been raised by three in  Kijang Kota Sub-District, East Bintan District.

Jokowi: World leaders congratulate me

In a subtle rebuke to his rival’s repeated victory declaration, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said on Thursday evening that more than 13 state leaders had congratulated “all Indonesians, as well as Jokowi and Ma’ruf” for the success of the general election on April 17.

He was referring to his running mate Ma’ruf Amin.

Elections delayed in some areas of Jayapura

Voting in several regions of Jayapura, Papua have been delayed owing to a lack of materials. 

“Besides in Abepura district, voting has been delayed in three subdistricts in South Jayapura district,” Papua General Elections Commission (KPU) head Theodorus Kossay said in Jayapura on Wednesday as quoted by Antara. 

Election materials such as ballots and ballot boxes have been sent to KPU Jayapura but have yet to be distributed to the polling stations in the aforementioned areas.

Jakarta. Quick counts from several pollsters put incumbent Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on course to winning a second term as president of the Republic of Indonesia after the world's biggest one-day elections took place on Wednesday (17/04).

With around 50 percent of the votes already in, Jokowi and his running mate Ma’ruf Amin are leading by 55 percent to rivals Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno's 45 percent. 

Pollsters Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting, Cyrus and Charta Politika have already collected more than 50 percent of their sample votes.
