President reaches Baidoa after political crisis
Our correspondent in Baidoa Ahmed Abdi Hassan informs us that today the president of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud reached the city today.
The president was accompanied by some ministers of the Federal Government, one of them Minister of Environment & Livestock Salim Aliyow Ibrow and others.
Dozens of soldiers were spread across Baidoa ahead of the president’s arrival with public transportation halted.
President declared for South West state of Somalia
This morning at a conference room of Hotel Bakiin in Baidoa, nominations to elect the president for the 3-region south western state of Somalia as announced it will take place a few days ago.
The conference hall was crowded with around 700 participants that came from Bay, Bakool & the Lower Shabelle regions and it was expected that there would be up to 4 nominations.
Bondhere district commissioner to be replaced
The Governor of Benadir & Mayor of Mogadishu General Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungaab confiscated the title of the Bondhere district commissioner in Mogadishu.
The district commissioner of Bondhere was announced to be replaced with Mohamed Hashi and that the handover ceremony will take place today at the district center in Mogadishu.
Since General Muungaab was appointed Governor & the Mayor, he has already began to undertake efforts to change the commissioners of the districts in Benadir.

Muungaab strands a district commissioner
General Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungaab today stranded one of the district commissioners in Mogadishu of their title.
They mayor did so to the district commissioner of Dharkeynley of the Benadir region, Macalin Abdulle Ali Hilowle.
The handover ceremony is expected to take place today within the Dharkeynley district and the title to a new commissioner.
It was only recent when the district commissioner of Shibis was also stranded of his title.

Speaker: “We’re expecting agendas from cabinet”
Speaker of the Somali parliament Mr. Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari spoke at a ceremony yesterday opening the 4th session of the Somali parliament and said that they are expecting from the prime minister to unveil his latest agendas so that the MP’s can work with the cabinet.
Mr Jawari added that the members of parliament need to provide strong advice to the agendas expected to be received very soon by the Somali government.
Somali president describes Al-Shabaab as an enemy of peace
The president of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mr Hassan Sheikh Mohamed, today reiterated that Al-Shabaab are an enemy of international peace.
Mr Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that Al-Shabaab are reluctant to remain in Somalia, but that wherever they are in the world they are against tranquility.
“We prefer that our youth are rehabilitated from Al-Shabaab, and work towards creating a brighter future for themselves and we are more than willing to help them in these matters,” Said the president.

Disagreement between ASWJ and Federal Government
After meetings last night in Dhuusamareeb the provincial capital city of Galgaduud between Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia and leaders from Ahlusunna Waljamaaca, it was said that they were unable to come to an agreement according to sources that confirmed to Radio Shabelle.
The Ministerial delegation was led by the Minister of Interior & Federalism and included the Minister of National Security, Minister of Information and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Somali Government.
Somali Pres. says the government will use all their ability to battle Al-Shabaab
After a press conference in the capital city Mogadishu, the President of the Somali Federal Republic Mr Hassan Sheikh Mohamed declared that the government is committed to fight against Al-Shabaab and added that very soon the military offensives against the terrorist insurgents will come to an abrupt end.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamed said that the ability of the government will be strengthened to ensure that Al-Shabaab is wiped from every region in the country.
New spokesman for the Benadir Regional Administration
Governor of Benadir & Mayor of Mogadishu Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungaab, announced that the spokesman of the Benadir Regional Administration will be deprived of his title.
The handover ceremony of the position was held today (Monday) and Abdibaasid Mohamed Abdirahman was stated as the new spokesman for the Benadir Regional Administration.
The previous spokesman Mohamed Yuusuf Osman, said at the handover ceremony that he welcomed the decision and peacefully transitioned the title.
Somali prime minister creates government office for clerics
Somali Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed convened a meeting of religious leaders in Mogadishu on Saturday (March 15th) and announced the creation of a new government office for religious scholars that will help shape public opinion and government decision-making.
"The main aim of this meeting is to have a collective position towards the religious-less people of al-Shabaab and show to Somalia and people of the world that these people are on the wrong path," Ahmed said in a statement.
Afgoye conference approves draft constitution for Shabelle State of Somalia
Eight hundred delegates met in Afgoye on Sunday (March 9th) and approved a draft constitution for a new federal state for Lower and Middle Shabelle called the Shabelle State of Somalia, Somalia's Radio Dalsan reported.
Seven hundred and seventy three of the assembly members voted in favour of the constitution, while 27 voted against it.
The vote occurred despite two competing efforts in Badoia to form two regional states on overlapping territories.
Governor Muungaabs meet with the 17 district commissioners of Mogadishu
For the past few days, the new Benadir Regional Administration have increased their efforts in the region and today the new Governor of Benadir & Mayor of Mogadishu, General Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungaab met in his office with the 17 district commissioners in the Benadir region and discussed the security, cleanliness, and how to cooperate on peacekeeping the general security in Benadir region.
Baidoa’s Selection Committee shut down registration
The new Selection Committee recently appointed at Hotel Bakiin of Baidoa, are currently reviewing the application for president of the 3 regions; Bay, Bakool & Lower Shabelle. The Selection Committee are expected to conclude the registration of the conference envoys today in Hotel Bakiin.
This committee started yesterday to write the names of the candidates for president of South-Western state of Somalia governing the 3 regions of Bay, Bakool & Lower Shabelle.
Heavy clashes breaks out in Bakool
A fight between the government forces backed by AMISOM against Al-Shabaab erupted this morning at Teed of the Bakool region where Ethiopian troops engaged in the full on battle with Al-Shabaab.
Heavy gunfire and mortar shellings were heard and according to locals they added that loss was caused with severe wounds although the number official casualties are not known.
Rumours say that heads from the Bakool Regional Administration were involved in the battle.

Competing Baidoa conferences highlight pitfalls of federalism process
Tensions continue to rise among various stakeholders in Baidoa over the formation of a new federal state, bringing into question once more Somalia's ability to implement federalism.
On March 3rd, Madobe Nunow Mohamed was elected president of a new regional administration called South-western State comprising Bay, Bakol, Lower Shabelle, Gedo, Lower Jubba and Middle Jubba regions. However, three of those regions -- Gedo, Middle Jubba and Lower Jubba -- had previously united to form the Interim Jubba Administration (IJA) in 2013.
Meeting held to support govt. decision on 3 region state conference in Baidoa
A meeting with participation from intellectuals, politicians, spiritual leaders and other community was held today in Baidoa, the provincial capital city of Bay region where they supported the government’s decision on creation of the South-Western state.
Furthermore, the participants urged the citizens in the South-Western state of Somalia to support the state formation on the 3 regions of Bay, Bakool & Lower Shabelle.
Political fallout between Puntland and Galmudug
Tension between the Puntland state and Mudug region increased significantly after a political fallout.
This disagreement became officially known after armed gunmen in Galmudug’s southern Galkacyo assailed to kill and injure people from the west of Galkacyo in Puntland.
These gunmen have killed up to 2 people and injured at least another 2 according to a statement to the media by an official named Abdi Kafi who accused the perpetrators of Galmudug.
