Somalia leader says its army to end war on Al Shabab

Somalia’s Prime Minister, said in an interview with VOA Somalia service that government would soon take over held Al Shabaab areas in south of Somalia’s lower and middle Juba regions, Shabelle reports.

PM Sharmarke said that his government is launching very big operation to re-capture militants held areas in a bid to bring them back to Somalia army.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sharmaarke stressed that it a dispute between his authorities and Interim Juba administration would be solved after Somali parliament ousted regional Jubaland representatives’ council in a vote of no-confidence.

HPR Speaker receives general report on 2014 legislative elections campaign financing

Speaker of the House of People's Representatives (HPR) Mohamed Ennaceur received, Wednesday, first President of the Court of Auditors Abdellatif Kharrat who handed him the general report on the 2014 legislative elections campaign financing.

The HPR Speaker commended the effort of this institution in terms of control to strengthen the principles of transparency and improve the good management of public spending.

En otro vuelco de la política palestina, el presidente de la Autoridad Nacional Palestina (ANP), Abu Mazen ha anunciado que el Gobierno de unidad formado por su movimiento Al Fatah y el islamista Hamas dimitirá en las próximas horas. Un ejecutivo que fue presentado hace sólo un año en el enésimo intento de reconciliación interna.

Según fuentes del Consejo Revolucionario de Al Fatah, Abu Mazen se reunirá este miércoles en Ramala con el primer ministro, Rami Hamdallah, para que disuelva el Gobierno y forme uno nuevo.

El Parlamento marroquí aprobó hoy aumentar del 12 al 27 % la "cuota femenina" de representatividad en los ayuntamientos o consejos municipales, que será aplicable tras las elecciones locales del próximo 4 de septiembre.

La Cámara de Representantes (baja) aprobó por 149 votos a favor una enmienda de la ley orgánica de colectividades locales para incrementar la cuota de representación femenina e imponerla en las instituciones municipales, informaron a Efe fuentes parlamentarias.

Several MPs, on Tuesday, emphasised the need to strengthen the legislative role of the parliament and its control during the coming period in the national effort to fight against terrorism and facilitate the action of security institutions and the army. 

"The fight against terrorism is a shared responsibility between state institutions and all the components of society," members of the House of People's Representatives (HPR) argued at a press conference held by the Committee of Administrative Affairs and Security Forces and the Committee of Security and Defence at the HPR.

The prosecutor’s office has demanded the removal of 2,800 names from the electoral roll in Durres after an investigation revealed that the mayor had added thousands of non-resident voters to the list, based on falsified on rent contracts with a company owned by the municipality.

The opposition Democratic Party filed a complaint with the CEC, which in turn asked the prosecutor’s office to investigate accusations of fraud.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has urged opposition parties to unclench their fists and turn swords into ploughshares if they want to form a coalition with the Justice and Development Party (AKP). 

 

Gathered with the newly elected deputies of his party, Davutoğlu called on other political parties, which have intentions of forming a coalition government, to have discussions with the AKP.

La Corte de El Cairo, Egipto, ha sentenciado al expresidente de ese país, Mohamed Morsi, a cadena perpetua por espionaje, informa RIA.

El expresidente de Egipto Mohamed Morsi, derrocado el julio de 2013, actualmente cumple una condena de 20 años de prisión por incitación a la violencia contra manifestantes. Anteriormente, en mayo fue condenado a muerte por espionaje y fugarse de prisión durante el levantamiento de 2011.

La Justicia egipcia ha confirmado este martes la condena a muerte dictada en mayo contra el ex presidente Mohamed Mursi por escapar de prisión durante las revueltas que forzaron la renuncia de Hosni Mubarak en 2011. El islamista, derrocado por el golpe de Estado de 2013, ha recibido además una nueva sentencia: cadena perpetua por su participación en un presunta conspiración junto a Hamas y Hizbulá para "cometer actos terroristas en el país".

Shafiq party rejects his resignation

The Egyptian Patriotic Movement has rejected the resignation of its leader Ahmed Shafiq, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

 

The movement’s supreme council said it would form a committee to travel to Abu Dhabi, where the Mubarak-era prime minister has lived  for “security reasons”  since he lost the presidency to Mohamed Morsi in 2012, to convince him to remain with the party.

The council said in a statement that they see Shafiq as a "principle," not a person, and that he is a true symbol of the party and will remain its head “forever.”

Egypt govt committee issues constituencies decision

A government committee has agreed to reduce the number of parliamentary constituencies to 205 from 206, in line with the view of the State Council, Transitional Justice Minister Ibrahim El-Heneidy has said.

 

The decision was agreed by the committee and the legislation department at the State Council.

El-Heneidy, who heads the committee responsible for amending the election laws, said he would notify the cabinet about the legislation department's approval of the amendments.
