Electoral System

General features

The palestinian electoral system has had difficulties to be implemented, because of the conflict between Palestine and Israel.  The legislative power is choosen using a propotional system with a single-circumscription (divided into 16 electoral territories), using the Saint-Laguë system for the distribution of the seatings, which is specified in the article 108 of the Electoral Law of 200.

Distribution is done over an electoral minimum of 1.25%. The President of National Palestinian Authority is choosen using a majority system. If an absolute majotity had not be reached, a second round of the election would be called. The Central Commission of Elections is in charge of the supervision.
