KOTA KINABALU: Kadaimaian assemblyman Jeremy Majalad, who quit Opposition PKR last year, has applied to join Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) led by Tan Sri Joseph Kurup.

PBRS secretary-general Datuk Johnson Tee when contacted confirmed that Majalad had put in an application but the party's supreme council has yet to make a decision over his membership.

Amid growing pressure by Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) led by Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan on PBRS not take in Majalad, Tee said that a planned function in Kota Belud on Saturday was to accept former PKR members into the party but Majalad was not among those to accepted at the event.

“At this point PBRS has not made any decision on his application.

“All I can confirm is that he has applied to join us and those joining us (in Kota Belud) are former PKR members,'' Tee said.

Majalad and Matunggong assemblyman Jelani Hamdan quit PKR in November last year and were widely expected to join PBRS.

However, Jelani abandoned plans to join PBRS after purportedly making demands for certain positions that were rejected by PBRS. Jelani, who has taken the stand of Barisan friendly, remains without a party though talk has it that he is trying to rejoin Umno.
