TELUK INTAN, May 28 (Bernama) -- Gerakan on Wednesday lambasted the DAP candidate for the Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election for what it described as her inconsistent stand on hudud.

The party's advisor, Datuk Chang Ko Youn, said Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud had at first defended DAP's position not to support hudud but in a later interview she had said she rejected hudud.

"Which is which?" he asked at a news conference.

Chang branded Dyana Sofya as a 'remote control' candidate, saying she was under the control of DAP leaders and that this was evident from several of her media conferences.

He cited the instances where DAP leaders often answered the questions posed by reporters on her behalf.

"Let her answer. You made her your candidate; you must have confidence in her," he said.

Meanwhile, Gerakan secretary-general Liang Teck Meng condemned the manifesto of Dyana Sofya as a copy-and-paste document gleaned from the manifesto of the Barisan Nasional candidate, Datuk Mah Siew Keong.

Dyana Sofya and Mah are engaged in a straight fight for the seat, polling for which is on Saturday.

The seat fell vacant following the death of the MP, Seah Leong Peng of the DAP, on May 1.
