  • Observations: The NYJDP was founded along with other new parties following the amendment of the Syrian constitution to allow the establishment of political parties outside the Baath dominated National Progressive Front in February 2012. It did participate in the May 2012 elections, but afterwards denounced the elections as fraudulent, registering an appeal against the results to the Supreme Constitutional Court. The party's leader is a media-friendly ex-journalist. The party's positions include aiming to politically engage young people in the democratic process. Its positions on the war include: opposition to international intervention and arming the opposition, support of dialogue with the regime.
