The National Election Committee (NEC) has announced that the electoral process for the Federal National Council Elections 2015 will enter a period of electoral silence for 48 hours, starting from October 1 to October 3, on election day.
The NEC has urged all candidates and their representatives as well as the media to refrain from any form of election campaign during this period.

Candidates at the FNC polling station at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre urged voters to pick those who have the best interest of families.
Shamma Khamis Al Hameli told Khaleej Times that her focus will be on Emirati families. She believes that a solid family is the core foundation of the future. "Family is most important," she said, adding that, "if the family is strong, the country will be strong."

The second day of early voting for the FNC elections witnessed a good turnout from the youth and people with special needs.
Dozens of Emiratis headed to the Dubai World Trade Centre to cast their ballots on the first morning of early voting for Federal National Council Elections 2015. Many of Dubai's 60 candidates were on hand to vote, meet with supporters and inspect the voting booths.
Among the candidates present on Monday was Ismael Albanna Al Bastaki, Director of International Organisation and Bodies at the Dubai Municipality.
In an interview with Khaleej Times, Albanna said he was impressed with how smooth the voting process was in comparison to the last round of FNC elections.

Abu Dhabi: Emiratis eligible to vote will cast their ballots from Monday through Wednesday at nine voting stations across the country in the first early voting since the election experience started in 2006, officials said on Saturday.

Abu Dhabi: Polling booths in 94 UAE embassies witnessed good voter turnout in the first overseas voting for the Federal National Council in the country’s history, a senior official said yesterday (Sunday)
“Eligible voters overseas started casting their vote for the Federal National Council for the first time at UAE embassies and missions abroad yesterday (Sunday) and no complaints were reported,” said Tareq Lootah, undersecretary of the Ministry of State for FNC Affairs and chairman of the Election Management Committee.
The National Election Commission is monitoring the advertising campaigns of Federal National Council candidates in all emirates and will take legal action against anyone who breaches regulations.
The NEC aimed to preserve the integrity of the electoral process, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National.
Candidates were required to provide information and slogans for voters objectively and rationally, away from hyperbole and exaggeration.

Abu Dhabi: The Federal National Council elections, set to be held on October 3, are getting tough with 12 candidates withdrawing from the race, officials said yesterday (Tuesday).
Dr Saeed Al Gafli, assistant undersecretary for FNC Affairs and a member of the National Election Committee, said withdrawals indicated that the FNC polls this year will be more competitive and only serious candidates remained in the fray.
“Standing down from the race is also indicative of a maturing and more professional electoral process,” Dr Al Gafli stressed.

Dubai: Empowerment of women and people with special needs, the environment and education are some of the issue that Asma Khalifa Al Mezaina, one of the Federal National Council (FNC) candidates, hopes to impact if she wins in the upcoming election.
Asma, who works as a researcher at the Ministry of Economy, is running for candidacy in Dubai.
