Special forces believed to be from Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces have dispersed protesters in the capital on Monday, media reports have shown.
 
The forces dispersed protests and removed road blocks in parts of the city’s north. Tear gas was used in the process, the reports further added. Incidentally, the action comes on the day talks resumed over transition.

Sudan’s former president, Omar Hassan al-Bashir, has been charged over his role in the killing of protesters during demonstrations that led to his ouster last month, the nation’s public prosecutor said in a statement on Monday.
 
The prosecutor’s office accused Mr. al-Bashir and others of “inciting and criminal complicity” in the deaths of demonstrators, according to Sudan’s official news agency.

Algerians staged demonstrations in capital Algiers on the first Friday of the Ramadan fasting month to reiterate their demand for the immediate departure of all government officials linked to the regime of former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

The 82-year-old Bouteflika stepped down early last month following weeks of popular protest against his 20-year rule.

The army is now overseeing a 90-day transitional period, and has promised to hold presidential elections sometime in July.

In a Friday sermon delivered near the protest, Abdul-Rahman Hassan, a prominent preacher, urged the MTC to prosecute figures close to ousted President Omar al-Bashir for their alleged role in violence against protesters.

Jordan’s king approves third cabinet reshuffle in 1 year

Jordan’s King Abdullah approved a cabinet reshuffle on Thursday, the third in Prime Minister Omar Razzaz’s government since he took office in 2018.

The reshuffle introduced six new ministers, including Nidal al-Bataineh, who was appointed as minister of labour, and Saad Fayez Jaber, who was made minister of health.

Salama Hammad was appointed as minister of the interior, replacing Sameer al-Mobaideen.

Hammad has held the position of interior minister twice before, in 1993 and 2016.
