Yemen’s Parliament decided on Sunday to refer Minister of Legal Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed al-Mukhlafi, to investigation over his appeal against the legitimacy of the Parliament’s decisions, while the Liberal bloc denied involvement in the signing of a statement condemning the Parliament sessions. The Parliament voted to refer the minister to investigation after the Speaker of Parliament ,  Yahya al-Ra’ea indicated that the minister has raised a letter to the Prime Minister calling him to address the Yemeni President that what comes out of the Parliament is illegal due to the absence of the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) MPs that have boycotting the sessions. The Parliament has the right to refer any of the ministers to investigation and in accordance with the Constitutional article (139) which stipulates it clearly. Independent MP Nasser Arman considered the sessions of the Parliament as legitimate for the presence of a due quorum. The head of the Liberal bloc Abdo Beshr said the Parliament is legitimate whether with presence or absence of Islah party (the largest party of JMP) denying that the JMP bloc has signed on a recent statement of what was called “the Coalition Bloc of Change”, which includes the Parliament blocs of the JMP, and the Liberals, Solidarity, Justice, Construction and the independents, according to the statement. MP Abdulrahman Mazab said the Parliament should not be subject to blackmailing by the JMP. JMP blocs were called for the re-election of the new presidency of the Parliament as a condition for balancing attendance of the sessions. Earlier, Speaker of Parliament, the Assistant Secretary of the General People Congress (GPC), has invited the JMP to end their boycott of the sessions and expressed his readiness to resort to the ballot box in the Chamber. Minister of Legal Affairs to Parliament was supposed to attend the Parliament on Sunday, as scheduled, his office manager apologized that the minister would not attend due to the absence of the JMP bloc members. MP Khaled al-Ansi considered the apology of Legal Affairs Minister’s office manager as insulting, while other MPs said office managers are not entitled to apologize on behalf of the Ministers.
