“Kyrgyzstan’s elite is uncoordinated and does not pursue a common objective, that is why the republic suffers so much turmoil and problems,” political scientist Zhumakadyr Akeneev said today at a round table discussion, called “Kyrgyz elites: no interaction, no state” in 24.kg news agency .

According to him, there are several elite groups in Kyrgyzstan. “The first is elite which remained after collapse of the Soviet Union. But these intellectuals turned into a ‘kitchen’ one- they do not express their opinion. There were a number of meetings but representatives of this group do not want to take part in life of the society. The second is the current power: deputies, officials, businessmen. This is uncoordinated elite- they work only to their advantage. The third is the local elite. It includes authoritative people, solving regional and district issues. They can organize the population for stabilization and destabilization. The authorities do not have close ties with them," Zhumakadyr Akeneev said.
