- Observations: The Republican Party was formed in April 2012 through the merger principally of the PDP and Afek Tounes but also the Tunisian Republican Party, Al Irada, Al Karama, the Bledi Movement, the Democracy & Social Justice Party and several independents. The objective was to create one big centrist political party capable of winning future elections. The party is clearly dominated however, by members of the former PDP and especially that party's long-time leader Ahmed Chebbi whose personal ambitions have already led to several splits in the original party.
